What: First Aid Merit Badge class
When: September 6 (Saturday) 9am to no later than 1pm
Where: My house 7223 Creekstone Sachse
Who: All scouts in troop 442

I have scheduled a great oportunity for all the scouts. I am going to hold a First Aid merit badge class on Saturday August 30. We will start at 9am and go until around noon maybe 1pm. I would like to see if at least one parent can also stay for the class to help with our two deep leadership.

This merit badge is Eagle required and is also a requirement for Emergency Preparedness so those that attend will start thier Emergency Preparedness. Please let me know if your scout would like to attend. We will be covering all the requirements as well as taking a short walk to the Fire Station for a demonstration of the AED use and function and a short tour of thier first response facilities.

If your scout does plan to attend they need to be prepare for the class. For the class they will need to bring a first aid kit prepare for the home. This is a requirement that requires the boys to do some prep work before the class. A sample list of the items that should be included in the kit is included at the bottom of this email.

Please email or call me to let me know if you scout is interested. More information will be sent as reminders and updates as needed.

Attached the worksheet and requirements that will be used in the class. The scouts should review the reqirements and be prepared.

Two 2″ roller bandages
Roll of adhesive tape
12 3×3 sterile pads
Adhesive bandage strips
3 elastic bandages
Thermometer
Scissors
Tweezers
Safety pins
Calamine lotion
2 pair examination gloves
Antiseptic
Antibiotic ointment
Water based burn gel
Mouth barrier device
Etc.

Another good item is to have a short reserve of daily medications

Feb. 9th TOW

TOW (Troop Organizational Weekend ) is an over night-er in Aug. and Mini-TOW is a one day Feb. event. This year Mini-TOW is Feb. 9th. We will be passing out SFF (Scouting For Food) bags, OA elections, Calendar scheduling, etc. We want to have as many of the 42 scouts on our charter there as possible. The PS (permission slips) went home with the scout’s at last Tuesday’s troop meeting. Please have your son complete the form and return it by the due date. We are looking forward to setting up some fun events for the upcoming months. So parent(s), please join us in providing a fun and exciting year for our scouts.

Christmas Caroling & Bowling

On Saturday, December 15th we will hold a multi-event day starting with bowling and ending with our annual Christmas Caroling event at area nursing homes. Between these two events will be lunch at CiCi’s Pizza. Please note that in order to bowl a scout MUST participate in the caroling afterwards.
