Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 442's Website!

We are Boy Scout Troop 442 from Wylie, Texas.

Our membership currently includes Scouts from Wylie and a number of nearby communities including Lavon, Murphy, Richardson, Rowlett, Sachse, and St. Paul.  Our Scouts attend traditional public schools in multiple districts including Wylie, Plano, Garland, and Community ISDs.  In addition, we have Scouts who attend school in other formats including online school, charter school, home school, and Montessori school.

Approximately 40 boys ranging between the 6th and 12th grades are currently members of Troop 442.  This includes multiple sets of brothers (including a few sets of twins).

We meet at Sachse First United Methodist Church on Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 PM.   The church is located at 1520 Blackburn Rd., Sachse, Texas.

All boys who are 11 years of age, or 10 years old and finished with 5th grade or have earned the Webelos Arrow of Light award, and are not yet 18 years old are welcome to join Boy Scout Troop 442.  Our troop is a diverse unit of boys who come together to grow as individuals and as members of a Boy Scout patrol.  Neither boys in the troop nor their families are required to be members of Sachse FUMC -- in fact most members of the troop are not members of Sachse FUMC.

Troop 442 adult leadership consists of willing volunteer parents of troop Scouts.  While most Scout parents are not active in troop leadership, and most Scouts camp without a parent present in camp, parents who wish to get involved helping the troop should express their interest to the Troop Committee Chair, to the Scoutmaster, or to one of the Assistant Scoutmasters.

Scout parents are also welcome to join in any camping trip -- and for Troop 442 this definitely does include mothers (indeed several Troop 442 mothers are troop camping trip regulars and are active as Troop adult leaders.)  Scout parents who wish to join in a troop camping trip should contact the Scoutmaster or one of the Assistant Scoutmasters to gain an understanding of logistical requirements.

If you are interested in learning more about or joining our Troop feel free to contact us at "Contact Us" for more information."

Boys who are under the age of 11 or have not finished the 5th grade are encouraged to check out local Cub Scouting if they have not completed the Cub Scout Webelos Arrow of Light award; boys who are working on their Arrow of Light award are invited to visit our troop meetings and campouts to help complete their Arrow of Light and prepare for their transition from Cub Scouts to a Boy Scout troop (hopefully Troop 442!)

Looking Ahead to Late Winter Order of the Arrow Elections

Posted on Aug 11 2017 - 7:58pm

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is Scouting's national honor society. Our troops' next election will come up in late winter or early spring. Scouts who aren't yet members of the OA might benefit from watching two videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHI81b1m41Q and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNRqjwkk4pE. These videos provide some background on the OA, explain the requirements for election to the OA, and explain what the Scouts will be looking for in their fellow Scouts when they vote for new OA members. Note: the OA Unit Election team may choose to show one of these videos just before the election, or they may cover the information in a different manner.
